Pope Francis, Quakers And Listening For God's Prints In The World
We watched the film Conclave about the election of a new pope. Next day Pope Francis died. Days later I replied to many emails as the TV relayed his funeral.
On Sunday I went to a Quaker meeting., One Quaker hated the pomp of the papal funeral but missed God's charism in Francis. During the silence I read some Quaker Advices including: 'Take heed to the promptings of love and truth in your hearts. Trust them as the leadings of God. What light shows us our darkness and brings us to new life? . Are you open to the healing power of God's love? Cherish that of God within you. Bring the whole of your life under the ordering of the Spirit. Remember that Christianity is not a notion but a way. '
As I listened I sensed God was calling us to listen, to discern the Divine footprints God wants to leave on the world inn our time.
