Poems, Starter Pack And New Book Review

I wandered lonely as a cloud

That floats on high o’er dale and hill

When all at once I saw a cloud

A host of golden daffodils

Beside the late, beneath the trees

Fluttering and dancing in the breeze …

And oft when on my couch I lie

In vacant or in pensive mood

They flash upon the inward eye

And are the bliss of solitude

I read aloud from a volume of Wordsworth’s poems signed by my forebear, Joseph Todhunter of Cockermouth, as I walk the path from Wordsworth’s house at Rydal to his cottage at Grasmere in England’s Lake District. I stay at idyllic Rydal Hall, where my Celtic Spirituality retreatants, sisters of the Holy Child, walkers, cyclists, Bishops and candidates for the post of archdeacon jostle in this idyllic Carlisle Diocesan Conference, B&B and Retreat House with its gardens, camp site and tea house. I climb Loughrigg. My retreatants urge me to write a starter pack for people who want to explore Celtic Spirituality and a Way of Life.

That means more writing. Yet the book on The St. Aidan Way of Mission is not published by BRF for another month. However, from Australia comes a review already. The review ends: ‘we need stories of saints who have walked journeys of courageous faith and adventurous mission – not to imitate closely but to suggest principles and ways of engaging our neighbourhoods in fresh and humble ways. St Aidan’s Way of Mission is a delightful read, weaving together the story of this inspiring saint and implications for contemporary ministry'.
