Change
It was a privilege to witness US Guardian Sandi Kerner receive Elizabeth Bumpness' Pilgrim Vows last week on Holy Island.
Ditto to spend time with Sally and Paul Nash and Sally's network of youth and church workers in England and Wales on retreat on the island a few days later. Paul is chaplain involved in amazing work at Birminghsm Children's Hospital. They asked me to speak about Christianity and Change,
For the first time in recorded history less than half the M.P's in UK's newly elected Parliament espouse no religious faith. For the first time since records began less than half the UK population claims to be Christian.
The algoriths etc of emerging world forces have brainwashed new generations into believing that Christianity is the prisoner of western colonialism: and belongs to the dustbins of history.
The facts speak otherwise. China and Africa are bulging with Christians.
Many millennials like pantheist religions whether pagan, indigenous or Hindu. I told of a conversation with two pagan evangelists at Glastonbuty who thought I was a fellow pagan because they found me meditating. As we talked about the spirits I said: 'The trouble is some of thee spirits are as bad as some human beings. Its like an orchestra. We need a conductor to create a symphony. I've asked Jesus to be my conductor.' 'What a good idea' they said as they went off to evangelise the world for paganism.
Nationalisms, as in USA, hijack Christianity, I introduced the slogan 'Its not Right nor Left, its Staight'. Straight means being greed-free, prejudice-free, and free to love the person in front of me. I encourage Americxans to gift a copy of my book 'Brendan's Return Voyage .. a New American Dream,' to political campaigners.
I suggested that books like my 'Before We Say Goodbye' can be introduced to the multiplying Death Cafes.
Social Media have become a sewer. I encouraged listeners to create social media that reflect what is 'good, true and beautiful' so that people are magnetised into the glory of God's everlasting kingdom.
And I encouraged them to multiply and extol the value of soul friends...
'Change and decay in all around I see. O Thou who changest not, abide in me...'
