How Missional Churches Can Become Whole

Thursday. Dublin University Club.  A trio brain storm about the future of the British Isles and Ireland and its churches. I circulate some embryo thoughts.  We talk through 'The Council of the Isles', the Irish-UK Parliamentary Assemby, Churches Together in Britain and Ireland, prophetic ways of God, people to network with.  Watch this space.

Friday, Scott and Wouter arrive. Scott tells about  missional churches and their vision to plant 500  new churches in Scotland. Wouter, who first came to our Lindisfarne Retreat House from his Netherlands Bible College to study Celtic spirituality, was recruited by Scott to do his dissertation placement on 'the kingdom of God and young people' in one of their church plant areas. They explain how local youngsters eat away on the top deck of their bus. Scott and Wouter invite any who wish to have one-to-one sessions downstairs. Wouter might do a survey on their practical and spiritual aspirations, problems etc. Scott might offer them a spiritual profile (intuitive insights into their nature, potential or calling).

Their new church in a local town has outgrown the house where it started, so they are putting easy chairs into a traditional church building which otherwise might become redundant and are moving into that. Wouter is its temporary youth minister.

I sense that the Aidan and Hilda way of life has ingredients  that are esssential if new churches are to become whole churches. So now I work on this. Watch this space too.
